The 2025 Auto Expo has seen a surge in electric vehicle (EV) innovations, showcasing a mix of new launches, exciting concepts, and special editions from major global automakers. From Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, to international players like VinFast and BYD, the event underscored the rapid transformation of India’s automotive landscape toward electric mobility.

Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: India’s Affordable EV Entry

Maruti Suzuki made a significant debut with the e-Vitara at the 2025 Auto Expo. This electric SUV is expected to feature two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with a claimed range of over 500 km. The e-Vitara will come equipped with premium features, including a fixed glass roof, auto AC, ventilated seats, and a 360-degree camera. The launch is anticipated by March, with prices expected to start at Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).

Toyota Urban Cruiser Concept: A Familiar Face in the EV Market

Tata Harrier EV: The Next Evolution in EV SUVs

Tata Motors showcased the production-ready Harrier EV, a promising addition to the Indian EV market. With a dual electric motor all-wheel-drive setup delivering 500 Nm of torque, the Harrier EV maintains the design essence of its ICE-powered counterpart. Additionally, Tata revealed the Stealth Edition of the Harrier EV, featuring an all-black design theme. Pricing is expected to begin at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Nexon EV Bandipur Edition: A Tribute to Nature

Tata Motors unveiled the Nexon EV Bandipur Edition, inspired by Karnataka’s Bandipur National Park. This special edition features a unique bronze exterior and khaki upholstery with elephant motifs. No changes were made to the powertrain, and the Nexon EV continues to offer a claimed range of 489 km.

Hyundai Creta Electric: Affordable Electric SUV for the Masses

Hyundai’s Creta Electric made its debut at the Auto Expo, with prices ranging from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in multiple variants, the Creta Electric offers a claimed range of up to 473 km, providing a familiar design with EV-specific upgrades.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Flagship Electric Sedan with Premium Features

Hyundai’s Ioniq 9 is the automaker’s flagship electric offering, boasting a range of up to 620 km. Equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery, this premium electric vehicle comes loaded with features like dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, and level-2 ADAS.

Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6: High-Range Electric SUVs

Mahindra’s new XEV 9e and BE 6 electric SUVs drew attention at the Expo with impressive range claims of up to 656 km and 682 km, respectively. Both SUVs offer dual battery pack options and advanced features such as ADAS, multi-zone AC, and panoramic glass roofs. Prices for these models start at Rs 21.90 lakh.

Kia EV6 Facelift: Sleek and High-Tech Electric SUV

Kia showcased the facelifted EV6, which will launch in India by March. This upgraded model features new LED DRLs and an updated interior. With a claimed range of over 650 km, the EV6 comes equipped with an 84 kWh battery and dual electric motors, offering 325 PS of power.

Skoda’s Vision for the Future: Vision 7S Concept and Elroq EV

Skoda’s Vision 7S Concept, with its rugged design and 600 km range, highlighted the brand’s vision for future electric vehicles. The Elroq electric SUV, with a range of 581 km, also made its Indian debut. Skoda plans to bring these models to India, positioning them against other premium EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

BYD Sealion 7: Premium Electric SUV for India

BYD’s Sealion 7 electric SUV, with a claimed range of 567 km, also made waves at the Auto Expo. Available in both single and dual motor options, the Sealion 7 is expected to be launched in India by early March 2025.

MG Cyberster: The All-Electric Convertible

MG’s Cyberster, an all-electric two-door convertible, was unveiled at the Auto Expo. It features scissor doors, an advanced infotainment system, and a 510 PS dual-motor setup, offering a range of 443 km. MG plans to sell the Cyberster through its ‘Select’ dealerships in India.

VinFast’s Bold EV Portfolio: VF 3 to VF 8

VinFast, the Vietnamese automaker, revealed its full EV lineup at the Expo. The VF 3, a compact SUV, is expected to rival the MG Comet with a range of 215 km. The VF 6 and VF 7 offer longer ranges, with the VF 6 providing up to 410 km and the VF 7 offering up to 450 km. VinFast also showcased the VF 8, a premium electric SUV with a range of 480 km, and the VF e34, a more affordable model with a range of 277 km.

BMW iX1 and Porsche Macan EV: Premium Electric Choices

BMW introduced the iX1 Long Wheelbase SUV with a range of 531 km. Meanwhile, Porsche’s Macan EV, with a top range of 590 km, also garnered attention for its high-performance dual-motor setup.

Mercedes-Benz Electric Flagships: G-Class EV and Maybach EQS SUV

Mercedes-Benz revealed the all-electric G 580, with a range of 455 km, as well as the Maybach EQS 680 Night Series, which boasts a range of 600 km. Both vehicles feature top-tier luxury, advanced tech, and exceptional performance.
