Uber ties up with Refex Green Mobility

Uber has announced a strategic partnership with Refex Green Mobility to introduce 1,000 electric vehicles (EVs) across key Indian cities by 2026. This move is part of Uber’s commitment to achieving 100% emission-free rides by 2040, reinforcing its dedication to sustainable urban mobility.

Under this collaboration, electric four-wheelers will be integrated into the Uber platform in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, offering riders a sustainable transportation option while reducing urban carbon emissions.

Refex Green Mobility, a subsidiary of Refex Industries Limited, operates under the Refex eVeelz brand and already manages a fleet of 1,300 company-owned EVs across India.

Commitment to Sustainability

Uber’s Aditya Kapoor, Head of Supply and Electrification for India & South Asia, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating: “Uber is committed to accelerating the shift to zero-emission mobility in India. This partnership with Refex eVeelz strengthens our efforts to electrify urban transportation, bringing more electric ride options to riders across multiple cities. We remain focused on removing barriers to EV adoption and building a greener future for all.”

Sachin Navtosh Jha, Chief of Staff, Refex Group, added: “We are proud to partner with Uber to expand electric mobility solutions in India. This initiative aligns with India’s broader sustainability goals and will help significantly reduce urban carbon emissions.”

Expanding Uber Green in India

This partnership complements Uber’s electrification push in India, following the rollout of Uber Green in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Uber Green allows users to book an all-electric, zero tailpipe-emission vehicle, making on-demand EV rides more accessible.

Currently, Uber Green is the world’s most widely available on-demand low-emission ride option, operating in 100+ cities across 15 countries.

Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future

With this partnership, Uber and Refex Green Mobility are making significant strides toward expanding EV adoption in India. By integrating 1,000 EVs into urban transport networks, they are laying the foundation for a cleaner, more sustainable future for Indian mobility.
