BluPine Energy, one of India’s leading renewable energy service providers, has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 150 MW solar power project integrated with an Energy Storage System (ESS). The project will be developed through BluPine’s Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), Solarcraft Power India 17 Private Limited.
This initiative is a key part of SECI’s tender to procure 2,000 MW of Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar energy equipped with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage solutions. The solar energy project will be established in Bikaner district, Rajasthan, a region recognized for its high solar irradiance and potential for clean energy generation.
BluPine Energy’s project directly supports India’s national objective of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil-based installed energy capacity by 2030. With integrated storage, the project aims to provide firm and dispatchable renewable power, addressing grid intermittency challenges and enhancing energy security.
Neerav Nanavaty, CEO of BluPine Energy, said:
“We are deeply committed to powering India’s decarbonization journey through reliable, round-the-clock renewable energy. This PPA with SECI reflects our strength in delivering high-impact clean energy projects that align with India’s future energy needs. Our 150 MW solar + storage project is built to ensure grid resilience, clean energy reliability, and long-term sustainability.”
The project was awarded under SECI’s competitive bidding process, initiated via RfS No. SECI/C&P/IPP/11/0011/24-25 dated July 31, 2024. The upcoming February 2025 mandate by the Ministry of Power, which emphasizes energy storage integration, will play a crucial role in ensuring optimal energy utilization during peak demand hours and maintaining grid stability.
With this development, BluPine Energy continues to expand its renewable energy footprint across India, playing a critical role in advancing clean energy adoption and energy independence.
