The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Renewable Energy Agency Puducherry (REAP) to deploy solar energy systems across all government buildings in the Union Territory.
The agreement was signed by Smt. R. Smitha, Managing Director of REAP, and Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager and Head of Solar at SECI, reflecting a concerted effort toward sustainable infrastructure development in Puducherry.
Advancing Renewable Energy Momentum
This collaboration follows recent high-impact MoUs SECI signed with Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL)—targeting renewable projects worth approximately ₹3,000 crore, including battery storage, pumping, floating solar, and solar plus BESS—and with MAHAPREIT in Maharashtra for land-linked renewable energy development.
Strong Financial Position to Drive Initiatives
Highlights from FY 2024–25 demonstrate SECI’s solid performance:
-
Revenue rose by 16.49% to ₹15,185.10 crore
-
Profit after tax increased by 15.11% to ₹501.92 crore
These enhanced financials underscore SECI’s capability to continue delivering robust, large-scale clean energy projects.
