Suzlon Group, India’s leading renewable energy solutions provider, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Indian energy company to join the RE100 initiative, a global campaign led by Climate Group in collaboration with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). Through this move, Suzlon has pledged to power 100% of its operations with renewable energy by 2030 across all 15 of its manufacturing facilities.

This major sustainability commitment firmly positions Suzlon as a trailblazer in India’s clean energy transition, reinforcing its leadership in responsible, low-carbon manufacturing. The company’s participation in RE100 is part of a larger decarbonization roadmap, which includes achieving Carbon Neutrality (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions) by 2035 and reaching Net Zero emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) by 2040.

Scope 1 emissions cover direct emissions from Suzlon’s operations, Scope 2 accounts for indirect emissions from purchased electricity, and Scope 3 includes emissions across the entire value chain—from suppliers to end-of-life product disposal.

“True Leadership in Renewable Energy Begins at Home”: CEO JP Chalasani

Commenting on the announcement, JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, said:

“Joining RE100 is a powerful affirmation of our belief that true leadership in renewable energy begins at home – in how we run our own operations. We are not just delivering clean power to the world; we are ensuring that every megawatt we produce is backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by renewables.”

“This commitment is both a responsibility to the planet and a promise to future generations – to lead by example, to innovate without compromise, and to embed sustainability into the DNA of everything we do,” he added.

Strong Progress on ESG and Decarbonization Goals

In the past year, Suzlon has made substantial progress in advancing its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals:

  • Achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality at plant-level

  • Rotor Blade Unit in Dhule now powered 100% by renewable energy

  • Reduced energy intensity by 17.19% (compared to FY 2023–24)

  • Cut Scope 1 and 2 emission intensity by 88.51%

  • Increased renewable energy usage by 80.7%

These achievements not only reflect Suzlon’s operational excellence but also demonstrate its unwavering commitment to climate action and sustainable growth.

Suzlon: India’s First RE100 Gold Member

Suzlon has also been recognized as the first Gold Member from India in the RE100 initiative, joining the ranks of over 400 leading global companies—such as Google, Apple, and IKEA—that are committed to transitioning to 100% renewable electricity.

This recognition enhances Suzlon’s standing on the global sustainability stage and aligns the company with international best practices for clean energy adoption and corporate responsibility.
