Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has signed a MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to explore the development of 7GW of renewable energy projects, marking a significant step toward India’s clean energy transition.
The collaboration aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s vision for a sustainable energy future, reinforcing the state’s commitment to renewable energy expansion.
Key Highlights of the Partnership
Project Scope: Development of solar, wind, and hybrid energy projects, with or without storage solutions.
Investment: Estimated at ₹490 billion ($5.63 billion)—one of the largest renewable energy investments in Andhra Pradesh.
Energy Impact: Strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy hub status and contributing to India’s low-carbon economy goals.
Economic Growth: The initiative is expected to boost local employment, skill development, and regional economic growth.

As part of this agreement, TPREL will conduct initial feasibility studies, site assessments, and infrastructure planning, while the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) will facilitate project execution.

Advancing Andhra Pradesh’s Clean Energy Policy
Andhra Pradesh’s integrated clean energy policy aims to develop 160GW+ of renewable energy, attracting an estimated ₹100 trillion in investments.
The project contributes to India’s national goal of achieving 500GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The initiative enhances energy security, decarbonization, and a greener economy.
Tata Power’s Expanding Clean Energy Footprint
In addition to this partnership, Tata Power recently signed an MoU with Druk Green Power in Bhutan to develop 5GW of clean energy projects, including 4.5GW of hydropower and 500MW of solar energy.
