Avaada Group has announced plans to scale its renewable energy capacity to 17.7 GW over the next two years, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading clean energy companies and supporting the country’s ambitious energy transition goals. The company aims to achieve this milestone through the commissioning of projects that are already under construction and backed by power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The expansion comes at a time when India is accelerating investments in renewable energy infrastructure to achieve its target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030. Avaada’s growth strategy aligns closely with these national objectives while strengthening energy security and reducing carbon emissions.

Avaada’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Continues to Grow

According to the company, Avaada’s renewable energy portfolio has already surpassed 17.7 GWp, comprising more than 7.2 GWp of operational capacity and approximately 10.5 GWp currently under construction. The company added over 2 GW of new renewable energy capacity during FY 2025-26, highlighting its strong execution capabilities and project delivery track record.

The operational portfolio currently supplies clean electricity to millions of households while supporting India’s efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Avaada estimates that its existing renewable energy assets help avoid more than 10 million tonnes of CO₂-equivalent emissions annually, making a significant contribution to the country’s climate goals.

Focus Beyond Solar and Wind

Avaada has evolved into an integrated clean energy platform with interests spanning multiple segments of the renewable energy value chain.

The company’s businesses include:

  • Utility-scale solar power projects
  • Wind energy projects
  • Solar-wind hybrid projects
  • Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE)
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
  • Pumped hydro storage
  • Solar PV manufacturing
  • Green hydrogen production
  • Green ammonia and green methanol
  • Green data centres

This diversified approach enables Avaada to deliver reliable, round-the-clock clean energy solutions while addressing challenges associated with renewable energy intermittency.

Energy Storage Emerging as a Key Growth Driver

As renewable energy penetration increases, energy storage is becoming a critical component of grid stability and energy reliability.

Avaada is actively expanding its battery storage capabilities and has announced plans to develop approximately 17 GW of battery storage capacity across India. The company is also exploring battery manufacturing opportunities to support the country’s growing clean energy ecosystem.

Industry experts believe large-scale energy storage deployment will play a crucial role in balancing electricity supply and demand, enabling greater integration of renewable energy into the national grid.

Supporting India’s Energy Security and Net-Zero Goals

India remains one of the world’s fastest-growing energy markets, with electricity demand continuing to rise alongside economic growth and industrial development. Renewable energy developers such as Avaada are expected to play a key role in helping the country meet future demand while reducing carbon intensity.

By combining solar, wind, storage and green fuels, Avaada aims to support India’s long-term net-zero ambitions while improving energy security and reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels. The company’s renewable energy expansion is also expected to contribute to job creation, infrastructure development and sustainable economic growth.

Outlook

With over 10 GW of projects currently under construction and a diversified clean energy portfolio spanning power generation, storage and green fuels, Avaada is positioning itself as a major player in India’s energy transition.

As the company works toward achieving 17.7 GW of installed renewable energy capacity within the next two years, its expansion is expected to strengthen India’s renewable energy ecosystem and accelerate progress toward a low-carbon future.
