Seoni, Madhya Pradesh | October 6, 2026 -SunBridge BioEnergy Ltd. has commenced commercial production at its grain-based ethanol facility in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh, marking the company’s entry into India’s growing bioenergy and fuel ethanol sector.
The facility has a production capacity of 300 kilolitres per day (KLD) and includes 11,000 kilolitres of ethanol storage capacity. Spread across approximately 117,560 square metres, the plant is designed to produce fuel-grade ethanol using agricultural feedstocks.
The company plans to expand its ethanol operations with a second facility in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, which is expected to add another 400 KLD of production capacity.
SunBridge BioEnergy Targets 700 KLD Ethanol Capacity
SunBridge BioEnergy plans to operationalise its proposed 400 KLD ethanol facility in Raipur.
Once the Raipur plant becomes operational, the company’s combined ethanol production capacity is expected to reach 700 KLD, strengthening its presence in India’s biofuel industry.
The Seoni plant uses damaged food grains, including maize and broken rice, as feedstock for fuel-grade ethanol production. According to the company, this allows agricultural produce that is unsuitable for human consumption to be converted into an industrial energy product.
The approach is also intended to create additional value from damaged and broken grains for farming communities.
Seoni Plant Produces Ethanol Co-Products
In addition to fuel-grade ethanol, the Seoni facility produces Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS) and Distillers Corn Oil (DCO) as co-products.
DDGS and DCO are primarily used by manufacturers in the poultry and cattle feed sectors, providing additional applications for the agricultural inputs processed at the facility.
This integrated production model allows the plant to generate multiple outputs from its grain-based feedstock.
Focus on Water Recovery and Resource Efficiency
SunBridge BioEnergy said the Seoni facility incorporates systems designed to improve resource efficiency, including water recovery and reuse infrastructure.
The plant also operates with a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system aimed at reducing water wastage during operations.
These systems form part of the company’s stated approach to building a bioenergy platform that combines fuel production with resource efficiency.
SunBridge Plans Further Bioenergy Expansion
The Seoni plant represents the first stage of SunBridge BioEnergy’s planned expansion in the ethanol sector.
Anuj Agarwal, Founder and Chairman of SunBridge Group, said the start of ethanol production at Seoni marks an important step in the company’s move into bioenergy.
He said the company aims to develop a scalable platform combining energy production and resource efficiency while creating value for farmers and rural economies.
The company sees further potential for expansion as India’s bioenergy ecosystem develops and the country works toward greater use of sustainable energy sources and reduced dependence on fossil fuels.
With the planned Raipur facility, SunBridge BioEnergy is positioning itself to expand its production footprint and increase its total ethanol capacity to 700 KLD.
