Bengaluru, India | October 6, 2026 – Alternicq Limited, India’s largest rigid plastic packaging manufacturer by installed capacity, has entered into an exclusive partnership with UK-based Pulpex to bring advanced pulp fibre bottle technology to the Indian packaging market. The partnership expands Alternicq’s portfolio beyond rigid plastics and strengthens its ambition to become a one-stop packaging solutions provider.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly evaluate the opportunity for Pulpex fibre bottles across India, including customer demand, priority applications, regulatory requirements and the infrastructure needed for local manufacturing.
The partnership also has potential implications for the GCC and Australian markets, with the companies indicating that the agreement could expand beyond India.
Pulpex Fibre Technology Expands Alternicq’s Packaging Portfolio
Pulpex’s bottle technology is based on sustainably sourced wood pulp, extending Alternicq’s existing packaging capabilities into a renewable fibre-based format.
According to the companies, Pulpex bottles are designed to be recycled through conventional household paper and cardboard streams. The bottles use a sprayed-on internal barrier coating that does not need to be separated from the fibre bottle before recycling.
The technology is also designed to work with existing filling infrastructure and supports direct-to-shape decoration, making it suitable for applications across the FMCG sector.
For Alternicq, the partnership represents an opportunity to combine Pulpex’s fibre technology with its existing manufacturing capabilities, customer relationships and distribution reach.
Focus on Local Manufacturing
A key part of the partnership will be assessing the requirements for producing fibre bottles locally at scale.
Alternicq and Pulpex will evaluate potential manufacturing sites, equipment requirements and market demand as they develop a roadmap for the technology in India.
Thimmaiah NP, Managing Director and CEO of Alternicq, said the company is working to build a packaging business capable of providing customers with different formats, materials and solutions through a single platform.
He described the Pulpex partnership as an important step in adding sustainable materials and advanced packaging technologies to Alternicq’s existing rigid-plastic portfolio.
Pulpex Looks to Scale Fibre Packaging in India
For Pulpex, India represents an important market for expanding the adoption of fibre-based packaging.
Sandy Westwater, CEO of Pulpex, said the partnership brings together Pulpex’s UK-developed technology with Alternicq’s manufacturing capabilities, customer base and ambition to deliver renewable packaging at scale.
The companies said the agreement gives Alternicq exclusive rights for India, with the potential to extend the arrangement to the GCC and Australia.
Scott Winston, Managing Director and Chief Science and Sustainability Officer at Pulpex, described India as a key consumer market and an important destination for the next phase of Pulpex’s growth.
Alternicq’s Growing Packaging Footprint
Alternicq operates 29 manufacturing facilities across India and serves more than 1,000 customers, according to the company. Its portfolio spans preforms, containers, closures, pumps and dispensers, as well as cartons, labels and leaflets.
The company, formerly known as Manjushree Technopack, rebranded as Alternicq in 2026 as part of its broader evolution as a packaging solutions provider.
Its existing sustainability initiatives include recycled-content packaging, recycling capabilities and investments in renewable energy and water management.
A Shift Toward Multi-Material Packaging Solutions
The Alternicq-Pulpex partnership reflects a broader move within packaging toward offering brands multiple material and format choices.
For FMCG companies, fibre-based packaging can provide an additional option alongside conventional plastic formats, particularly as brands assess packaging design, material sourcing, recycling pathways and regulatory requirements.
For Alternicq, adding Pulpex’s technology strengthens its stated strategy of providing customers with packaging solutions across formats, materials and geographies.
The immediate priority will be to assess market demand and establish the technical and manufacturing foundation required for potential fibre bottle production in India.
