The acquisition strengthens Waaree Renewable’s position across the broader clean energy value chain and reflects the growing importance of grid infrastructure in supporting India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.

Following the transaction, APSPL will become a subsidiary of Waaree Renewable Technologies, enabling the company to offer a more integrated portfolio spanning renewable energy generation, EPC services, energy efficiency solutions, and transmission infrastructure.

Waaree Expands Beyond Renewable Energy Generation

As India accelerates its renewable energy deployment, the need for robust transmission and distribution networks has become increasingly critical.

Large-scale solar and wind projects require efficient grid infrastructure to evacuate, transmit, and distribute electricity across regions. Recognizing this opportunity, Waaree Renewable Technologies is expanding beyond its traditional focus areas to establish a stronger presence in energy infrastructure.

The acquisition of APSPL provides Waaree with expertise in power transmission and distribution, allowing the company to support customers across multiple stages of the energy value chain.

About Associated Power Structures

Founded in 1996, Associated Power Structures Private Limited is an established player in the power transmission and distribution sector.

The company has executed infrastructure projects across India and selected international markets, building significant experience in transmission networks and power delivery systems.

For the financial year ended March 2025, APSPL reported:

  • Revenue: ₹1,226.64 crore
  • Net Worth: ₹339.53 crore

Its strong execution capabilities and industry expertise are expected to complement Waaree Renewable’s growing renewable energy business.

Strengthening India’s Energy Infrastructure

The acquisition comes at a time when India is investing heavily in grid modernization and renewable energy integration.

Transmission infrastructure plays a crucial role in ensuring that electricity generated from renewable sources reaches consumers efficiently and reliably. As renewable energy installations continue to grow, investments in grid infrastructure are becoming equally important.

By bringing transmission and distribution capabilities in-house, Waaree Renewable aims to:

  • Improve project execution efficiency
  • Enhance delivery timelines
  • Strengthen operational capabilities
  • Offer end-to-end energy infrastructure solutions
  • Support utility-scale renewable energy projects

The move is expected to help the company participate more actively in India’s energy transition and infrastructure development initiatives.

Building an Integrated Clean Energy Ecosystem

The APSPL acquisition aligns with Waaree Renewable’s long-term strategy of building a comprehensive clean energy platform.

The company has been steadily diversifying beyond solar module manufacturing and EPC services into adjacent sectors that support renewable energy growth.

Industry experts believe that integrated energy companies with capabilities spanning generation, transmission, and infrastructure development will be better positioned to capitalize on India’s renewable energy ambitions.

The acquisition also enhances Waaree’s ability to manage large-scale projects more effectively while reducing dependence on third-party infrastructure partners.

Growing Importance of Transmission Infrastructure

India has set ambitious renewable energy targets, with significant investments planned across solar, wind, green hydrogen, battery storage, and energy transition projects.

However, achieving these targets requires substantial upgrades to the country’s transmission and distribution network.

Power evacuation infrastructure remains one of the key enablers of renewable energy growth, ensuring that electricity generated in resource-rich regions can be transmitted efficiently to demand centres.

As a result, transmission infrastructure has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments within India’s energy sector.

Positioning for Future Growth

With the acquisition of APSPL, Waaree Renewable Technologies is positioning itself as a broader energy infrastructure company rather than solely a renewable energy developer and EPC provider.

The transaction highlights the increasing convergence between renewable energy generation and grid infrastructure development, as companies seek to create integrated solutions that support the transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy system.

As India continues to expand its renewable energy capacity, companies with capabilities across the entire energy ecosystem are expected to play a critical role in supporting the country’s sustainability, energy security, and decarbonization objectives.

The acquisition represents another significant step in Waaree Renewable Technologies’ growth strategy and reinforces its commitment to supporting India’s clean energy future through both renewable power generation and essential grid infrastructure development.
