The appointment comes at a pivotal stage for Suzlon as it accelerates its transformation into a wind-focused, integrated renewable energy company. In his new role, Ramchandran will report directly to Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, and will be responsible for driving business growth, operational excellence, and market expansion across India.

Veteran Industry Leader Joins Suzlon

Ashok Ramchandran brings more than two decades of leadership experience across the energy, industrial products, infrastructure, and mobility sectors. His career spans multiple markets, including India, Southeast Asia, and Australia, where he has led large-scale businesses and transformation initiatives.

Before joining Suzlon, Ramchandran served as Chief Operating Officer and Board Member at JSW Energy, where he played a key role in shaping the company’s long-term growth strategy. During his tenure, JSW Energy significantly expanded its power generation capacity from nearly 5 GW to approximately 30 GW within three years, positioning itself among India’s leading energy companies.

Proven Track Record in Scaling Businesses

Prior to his role at JSW Energy, Ramchandran spent a significant part of his career with Schindler Group. As CEO and President of Schindler India & South Asia, he managed one of the company’s most important regional markets, overseeing manufacturing, operations, innovation, and research activities.

Under his leadership, the business achieved substantial growth, with revenues increasing from approximately ₹1,000 crore to ₹3,000 crore. He also strengthened operational efficiency and expanded the company’s market presence across the region.

Suzlon Eyes Massive Growth Opportunity in Wind Energy

Commenting on the appointment, Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said Ramchandran’s expertise in business transformation, operational scaling, and execution-focused leadership would play a critical role in supporting the company’s future growth ambitions.

Tanti noted that India’s wind energy industry is entering a period of accelerated expansion. Following record annual wind installations of 6.5 GW last year, he believes the sector has the potential to reach 13–15 GW of installations annually in the coming years.

According to Tanti, the next phase of growth will depend on the industry’s ability to scale efficiently while maintaining strong execution capabilities and delivering large renewable energy projects on time.

Leadership Focused on Operational Excellence

Suzlon CEO Ajay Kapur welcomed the appointment and emphasized the importance of strengthening execution capabilities as the renewable energy market continues to evolve.

He stated that Ramchandran’s operational expertise and leadership experience would help Suzlon enhance its performance standards and reinforce its position as a leader in India’s renewable energy ecosystem.

The company expects his experience in managing large-scale operations and driving business growth to contribute significantly to Suzlon’s long-term strategic objectives.

Strengthening Suzlon’s Market Leadership

Speaking about his new role, Ramchandran highlighted the immense opportunities emerging in India’s wind energy sector as the country accelerates its clean energy transition.

He said his focus would be on strengthening Suzlon’s market leadership through improved execution, customer-centric strategies, operational excellence, and scalable growth initiatives.

India has set ambitious renewable energy targets as part of its energy transition strategy, creating significant opportunities for companies operating in the wind energy value chain. As demand for clean energy infrastructure continues to increase, Suzlon is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing momentum in the sector.

Suzlon’s Renewable Energy Growth Strategy

The appointment reflects Suzlon’s commitment to building a strong leadership team capable of supporting the company’s long-term growth ambitions. With increasing investments in renewable energy, favorable policy support, and rising demand for sustainable power solutions, the company is focused on expanding its footprint across the wind energy market.

As India moves toward achieving its clean energy goals, Suzlon aims to play a central role in scaling wind power deployment, strengthening energy security, and supporting the country’s broader sustainability objectives.

With Ashok Ramchandran joining the leadership team, Suzlon is expected to further enhance its operational capabilities and accelerate its vision of becoming a leading renewable energy solutions provider in India and beyond.
