October 2026 , India – SUN Mobility has announced two senior leadership appointments as the electric mobility company and its joint venture, Indofast Energy, prepare to expand their operations and strengthen their battery-swapping ecosystem.
Satish Sundaresan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of SUN Mobility, while Kamaldeep Singh will serve as CEO of Indofast Energy, the 50:50 joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility.
The appointments create separate leadership responsibilities across technology, manufacturing and domestic operations as the companies prepare for their next phase of growth.
Satish Sundaresan to Lead SUN Mobility
As CEO of SUN Mobility, Satish Sundaresan will oversee the company’s engineering, manufacturing operations and global sourcing activities.
His responsibilities will include the delivery of Smart Batteries, Quick Interchange Stations (QIS) and energy platforms to Indofast Energy in India, along with SUN Mobility’s international operations.
Sundaresan will also lead initiatives related to:
- Manufacturing capacity expansion
- Supply-chain resilience
- Technology development
- Open-architecture product innovation
- Engineering operations
- Global sourcing
He brings more than 25 years of experience spanning automotive technology, software and electronics manufacturing.
Before joining SUN Mobility, Sundaresan served as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President at Lumax Auto Technologies, where he also led electronics manufacturing operations.
He previously held the positions of Chief Strategy Officer and Managing Director at Elektrobit India and worked in senior roles at Mercedes-Benz and Bosch.
Kamaldeep Singh to Lead Indofast Energy
Kamaldeep Singh has been appointed CEO of Indofast Energy, with a mandate to expand the company’s battery-swapping network across India.
Indofast Energy is a 50:50 joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation Limited and SUN Mobility.
Singh will focus on scaling the network while improving the company’s operational and financial performance. His role will also involve building an operating model focused on execution and unit economics.
He brings more than 20 years of experience in P&L management, consumer businesses and distributed operations.
His previous leadership positions include CEO of Big Bazaar and CEO of DealShare.
Focus on Battery-Swapping Network Expansion
The leadership change comes as Indofast Energy works to expand its battery-swapping infrastructure across India.
Battery swapping can enable electric vehicle users to exchange depleted batteries for charged units rather than waiting for conventional charging, making network availability and operational efficiency important factors in the business model.
Under Singh’s leadership, Indofast Energy is expected to focus on network expansion while strengthening its operating performance.
Separate Leadership Structure for Technology and Operations
SUN Mobility said the appointments establish dedicated leadership across its technology, manufacturing and operating businesses.
Sundaresan will concentrate on building and scaling the company’s engineering and manufacturing platform for India and international markets.
Singh, meanwhile, will lead the expansion of Indofast Energy’s domestic operations and battery-swapping network.
According to SUN Mobility Co-Founder and Chairman Chetan Maini, the leadership structure is designed to support the company’s next phase of expansion as electric vehicle adoption increases.
SUN Mobility Targets Multiple EV Segments
The company said its growth strategy covers zero-emission mobility applications across multiple vehicle categories.
These include:
- Electric two-wheelers
- Electric three-wheelers
- Electric four-wheelers
- Heavy electric vehicles
The two leadership appointments come as India’s electric mobility ecosystem continues to develop around technologies such as battery swapping, charging infrastructure, energy platforms and connected mobility services.
With Sundaresan responsible for technology and manufacturing and Singh leading Indofast Energy’s operating expansion, SUN Mobility is establishing a more focused leadership structure for scaling its electric mobility and battery-swapping businesses.
