The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, transport authorities, and representatives from the electric mobility sector, highlighting Rajasthan’s commitment to reducing transport-related emissions and improving public transit infrastructure.

876 Electric Buses Approved for Rajasthan

The flag-off represents the first phase of a larger order involving 876 electric buses awarded to EKA Mobility in partnership with Chartered Speed.

Under the project, Chartered Speed will operate and manage the fleet across eight cities in Rajasthan, supporting the state’s transition towards greener and more sustainable transportation systems.

The deployment forms part of the central government’s broader efforts to modernize urban mobility while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuel-powered public transport.

Advancing Clean Mobility in India

Speaking on the occasion, Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, highlighted the company’s growing footprint in India’s electric transportation ecosystem.

According to Mehta, EKA Mobility’s electric vehicle solutions are already operating across multiple states, including:

  • Rajasthan
  • Uttarakhand
  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Andhra Pradesh

The company continues to expand its presence as demand for zero-emission public transport solutions increases across the country.

Smart and Sustainable Electric Bus Technology

The newly deployed buses are built on EKA Mobility’s indigenous electric vehicle platform and incorporate several advanced features designed to improve operational efficiency and passenger experience.

Key features include:

  • Zero tailpipe emissions
  • Advanced fleet management systems
  • Enhanced operational monitoring capabilities
  • Smart connectivity solutions
  • Improved passenger comfort and safety

The electric buses are expected to contribute significantly to reducing urban air pollution while supporting India’s broader climate and sustainability goals.

Focus on Inclusive Public Transportation

In addition to environmental benefits, the buses have been designed with accessibility in mind.

The vehicles feature a wheelchair lift door mechanism, enabling safer and more convenient boarding and deboarding for passengers with mobility challenges.

The inclusion of accessibility-focused features aligns with growing efforts to make public transportation more inclusive and accessible for all citizens.

PM e-Bus Sewa Driving India’s EV Transition

The deployment comes under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, which aims to support the adoption of electric buses in cities across the country.

The initiative is intended to:

  • Improve urban public transport systems
  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Enhance energy efficiency
  • Promote domestic electric vehicle manufacturing
  • Support India’s net-zero and sustainability objectives

As cities face increasing challenges related to congestion, air pollution, and fuel costs, electric buses are emerging as a critical component of future-ready transportation networks.

EKA Mobility Expands Presence in India’s EV Market

EKA Mobility, formally known as Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., has positioned itself as a major player in India’s commercial electric vehicle sector.

The company offers a broad portfolio that includes:

  • Electric buses
  • Electric trucks
  • Small commercial electric vehicles

EKA Mobility is backed by strategic global partners, including:

  • Mitsui & Co., Japan
  • VDL Groep, Netherlands

The company describes its portfolio as one of India’s largest electric commercial vehicle platforms, supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner transportation solutions.

Rajasthan Strengthens Sustainable Transport Infrastructure

The launch of the electric bus fleet represents another milestone in Rajasthan’s efforts to build environmentally sustainable transportation infrastructure.

As electric mobility adoption accelerates across India, large-scale deployments such as this are expected to play a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving urban air quality, and supporting the country’s long-term clean energy and climate goals.

With 876 electric buses scheduled for deployment across multiple cities, Rajasthan is positioning itself among the leading states driving India’s public transport electrification journey.
