The project is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening transmission connectivity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while supporting the large-scale integration of renewable energy from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). The development also aligns with India’s broader clean energy and grid modernization objectives.

Project to Enable Evacuation of 3 GW Renewable Energy

Spanning approximately 120 kilometers, the transmission project has been designed to facilitate the evacuation of nearly 3 GW of renewable energy capacity planned under Kurnool IV REZ Phase II.

The project includes the development of critical high-voltage transmission infrastructure aimed at improving grid flexibility, reliability, and renewable energy integration across the region.

Key components of the project include:

  • Establishment of a 765/400 kV Doma Substation
  • Augmentation of the existing Kurnool-IV Pooling Station
  • LILO (Line-In Line-Out) of the Kurnool-IV–Bidar 765 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line at Doma
  • Development of two 400 kV Double Circuit Transmission Lines connecting Doma Substation with the existing Shadnagar and Kethiredipally substations operated by TGTRANSCO

The infrastructure will help strengthen interstate power transmission networks while enabling seamless evacuation of renewable power generated from the Kurnool Renewable Energy Zone.

Supporting India’s Energy Transition

India continues to expand its renewable energy capacity at an unprecedented pace, increasing the need for robust transmission infrastructure capable of transporting clean energy from generation centers to demand hubs.

The Kurnool IV REZ project is expected to contribute significantly to:

  • Renewable energy integration
  • Grid reliability and resilience
  • Interstate power transmission efficiency
  • Energy security
  • Decarbonization efforts

As renewable energy generation grows across the country, transmission infrastructure is becoming a critical component of India’s energy transition strategy.

Resonia CEO Highlights Strategic Importance

Commenting on the project win, Prashant Sinha, CEO of Resonia Ltd, said:

“This project marks an important milestone for Resonia and underscores the growing need for robust interstate transmission infrastructure in India’s energy transition journey. As renewable energy capacity scales rapidly, resilient and high-capacity transmission systems are critical for seamless power evacuation and grid stability. Through the Kurnool IV REZ project, we are enabling efficient clean energy integration while supporting regional and national decarbonisation goals. This win reflects our strong execution capabilities and our commitment to building future-ready transmission networks for the country.”

The statement reflects the growing importance of transmission infrastructure in enabling India’s transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.

Strengthening India’s Clean Energy Infrastructure

The project further reinforces Resonia’s position as a key contributor to India’s evolving power infrastructure landscape.

With increasing investments in renewable energy generation, grid modernization, and transmission expansion, companies involved in high-capacity transmission projects are playing an essential role in ensuring reliable electricity delivery across the country.

The new order highlights Resonia’s expertise in executing large-scale transmission projects that support renewable energy integration and strengthen national power networks.

About Resonia Ltd

Formerly known as Sterlite Grid32 Limited (SGL32), Resonia Ltd. is a leading Indian power transmission company focused on strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure.

The company operates a vast network spanning more than 14,499 circuit kilometers (CKM) of transmission lines across India and has been actively involved in supporting the integration of renewable energy into the national grid.

Resonia is recognized for adopting advanced technologies in project execution, including:

  • Helicranes for transmission line construction
  • Drone-based surveying and monitoring
  • Technology-driven project management solutions
