According to the company, the solar modules will be deployed at the RUVN Solar Park in Pugal, Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project forms part of the larger 2,000 MW Pugal Solar Park being developed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL).
The order highlights the growing demand for advanced solar module technologies as India expands its renewable energy capacity and accelerates the development of large-scale solar installations.
Vikram Solar to Supply Advanced N-TOPCon Solar Modules
The 289.87 MWp order covers solar modules based on N-type Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact (TOPCon) technology. These modules are designed to deliver higher energy yields and maintain stable performance under challenging environmental conditions, including high temperatures and intense solar radiation.
These characteristics are particularly relevant to western Rajasthan, where high solar irradiance creates favourable conditions for large-scale solar power generation.
By supplying advanced TOPCon modules for the project, Vikram Solar aims to support efficient electricity generation and the long-term performance requirements of utility-scale solar infrastructure.
The company is also developing its domestic manufacturing capabilities. Vikram Solar has announced plans for 9 GW of TOPCon solar cell manufacturing capacity in Tamil Nadu, which was expected to be commissioned in December 2026, according to the information provided. The extent to which this new capacity will be used to fulfil the current order has not been confirmed.
The planned expansion reflects the broader industry focus on strengthening India’s solar manufacturing ecosystem and increasing domestic production of advanced photovoltaic technologies.
NLC India’s 810 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan
NLC India Renewables Limited previously entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 810 MW solar project at the RVUNL Solar Park in Pugal, Rajasthan.
The project is part of the 2,000 MW Pugal Solar Park, which is being developed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. The wider development is intended to harness Rajasthan’s substantial solar resources and contribute to the expansion of the state’s utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure.
The addition of advanced solar modules is an important component of project development, as module performance can influence electricity generation, project economics and long-term operational efficiency.
For NLC India Renewables, the project represents part of its renewable energy development activities as India’s public-sector energy companies continue to participate in the country’s clean energy transition.
Bondada Engineering Also Secures EPC Work for the Solar Park
Vikram Solar is not the only company involved in the development of the project.
Bondada Engineering has also secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from NLC India Renewables for work associated with the 810 MW solar development.
The company had previously received an EPC order worth ₹945 crore for balance-of-system (BOS) works at the RVUNL Solar Park in Bikaner. The order also included three years of operations and maintenance (O&M).
Balance-of-system work typically covers the infrastructure and components required to integrate solar modules into a functioning power generation facility, beyond the modules themselves.
The involvement of module manufacturers and EPC contractors illustrates the range of suppliers and infrastructure partners required to deliver large-scale solar projects.
Rajasthan Strengthens Its Position in Utility-Scale Solar Energy
Rajasthan remains a key destination for large-scale solar development because of its high solar irradiance, extensive land availability and established pipeline of renewable energy projects.
Located in the Thar region, the Pugal Solar Park is part of the state’s broader efforts to expand solar power generation and contribute to India’s renewable energy ambitions.
Projects of this scale require coordination across several areas, including module procurement, engineering and construction, grid connectivity, power purchase arrangements and long-term operations.
The 810 MW project is therefore significant not only for its planned generation capacity but also for the supply chain supporting its development.
Vikram Solar Highlights Technology and Manufacturing Capabilities
Commenting on the order, Sameer Nagpal, Chief Executive Officer of Vikram Solar, said the company’s selection reflects confidence in its N-TOPCon technology and its ability to supply modules for large utility-scale projects.
He also highlighted the growing importance of dependable technology and supply partners as India develops renewable energy capacity at gigawatt scale.
Nagpal said the company’s focus remains on strengthening its integrated manufacturing capabilities while providing customers with reliable supplies and consistent module performance.
For Vikram Solar, the latest order adds to its participation in India’s expanding solar project pipeline. The company’s planned investment in TOPCon cell manufacturing could also support its broader efforts to develop a more integrated domestic solar manufacturing operation.
What the Order Means for India’s Solar Industry
The order reflects several developments shaping India’s solar energy market.
Growing demand for advanced module technology: N-type TOPCon modules are gaining attention as developers seek improved energy yields and performance from utility-scale solar installations.
Expansion of domestic manufacturing: Investments in solar cell production capacity are intended to strengthen local manufacturing and support the supply of advanced photovoltaic technologies.
Increasing project scale: Large solar parks such as Pugal require significant module supplies and coordinated execution across manufacturers, EPC contractors and project developers.
Rajasthan’s renewable energy potential: The state’s solar resources continue to attract investment in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.
However, the overall impact of the order will depend on project execution, module deliveries, installation schedules and the performance of the completed solar facility.
Outlook
Vikram Solar’s 289.87 MWp module order for NLC India’s 810 MW Rajasthan solar project underscores the continuing role of domestic manufacturers in India’s renewable energy expansion.
As large solar parks move through development and construction, reliable module supplies and advances in photovoltaic technology will remain important to project delivery.
The planned TOPCon manufacturing expansion in Tamil Nadu could further strengthen Vikram Solar’s position in the domestic solar supply chain, although the use of that capacity for this particular order remains unconfirmed.
The progress of the Pugal Solar Park will be closely watched as Rajasthan continues to develop its utility-scale solar capacity and India works towards its wider clean energy objectives.
