The partnership is expected to strengthen Kalpa Power’s ability to deliver reliable battery storage solutions while supporting the growing demand for clean energy integration and grid stability.

Strategic Partnership to Strengthen Energy Storage Capacity

Under the agreement, Lineage Power will prioritise the supply of 100 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity manufactured at its production facilities for Kalpa Power.

The secured battery capacity will be deployed through WATTBANK, Kalpa Power’s energy storage platform, supporting projects across:

  • Rooftop solar installations
  • Open access renewable energy projects
  • Hybrid solar and wind power systems
  • Commercial and Industrial (C&I) energy solutions

The collaboration is designed to improve project execution timelines while ensuring a dependable supply of advanced battery storage systems.

Supporting India’s Growing Renewable Energy Market

Battery Energy Storage Systems are becoming an essential component of India’s renewable energy ecosystem by enabling efficient storage of electricity generated from intermittent renewable sources such as solar and wind.

By integrating BESS with renewable energy projects, businesses can:

  • Improve energy reliability
  • Optimise renewable energy utilisation
  • Reduce dependence on conventional power sources
  • Enhance energy resilience
  • Lower operational costs through peak demand management

The partnership reflects the increasing importance of energy storage as India accelerates its transition toward a low-carbon energy future.

Focus on Faster Project Delivery

Kalpa Power said securing priority access to battery storage capacity will enable the company to deliver projects more efficiently and provide greater certainty for customers investing in renewable energy infrastructure.

Reliable battery supply has become increasingly important as demand for energy storage systems continues to rise across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.

By securing manufacturing capacity in advance, the company aims to minimise supply chain disruptions and accelerate deployment timelines.

Energy Storage Driving the Next Phase of India’s Energy Transition

Commenting on the partnership, Rounak Muthiyan, Founder and Director of Kalpa Power, said that energy storage is becoming just as important as renewable energy generation in India’s clean energy journey.

He noted that securing 100 MWh of priority battery capacity from Lineage Power will support the rapid expansion of the company’s WATTBANK platform and strengthen its long-term energy storage strategy.

According to the company, the agreement represents an important milestone as demand for integrated renewable energy and battery storage solutions continues to grow across industries.

Expansion Plans Through 2030

Kalpa Power currently has nearly 80 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System capacity under deployment across multiple renewable energy projects.

The company has outlined ambitious growth plans that include:

  • Deploying 500 MWh of Battery Energy Storage System capacity by 2028
  • Expanding its renewable energy portfolio to 5 GW by 2030
  • Increasing adoption of integrated clean energy solutions for commercial and industrial customers

These expansion plans are aligned with India’s broader renewable energy and energy storage ambitions.

Growing Importance of Battery Energy Storage Systems

As renewable energy generation increases across India, Battery Energy Storage Systems are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring grid stability and reliable electricity supply.

BESS solutions help store surplus electricity generated during peak renewable production periods and discharge power when demand increases or renewable generation declines.

This capability improves renewable energy utilisation while supporting grid flexibility and reducing reliance on fossil fuel-based power generation.

Industry analysts expect battery storage deployments to accelerate significantly over the coming years as India moves toward achieving its clean energy and net-zero targets.

Looking Ahead

The partnership between Kalpa Power and Lineage Power highlights the growing momentum behind India’s energy storage sector.

With secured battery manufacturing capacity, ambitious deployment targets, and a focus on commercial and industrial renewable energy projects, Kalpa Power is positioning itself to play a larger role in the country’s evolving clean energy landscape.

As battery storage becomes a critical pillar of renewable energy infrastructure, collaborations such as this are expected to support faster project execution, improve energy resilience, and accelerate India’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future.
