With previously announced projects included, the partnership now represents more than 900 MW of renewable energy capacity, making it one of the significant corporate clean energy collaborations in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.

The agreement highlights the increasing role of technology companies in driving large-scale renewable energy deployment while supporting the transition toward a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.

Supporting Meta’s Renewable Energy Ambitions

Under the agreement, Meta will purchase 100% of the environmental attributes generated by the 837 MW portfolio of solar and wind projects developed and operated by CleanMax.

The renewable energy projects are expected to contribute to Meta’s broader objective of matching its electricity consumption with 100% clean and renewable energy while supporting efforts to reduce value chain emissions in India.

As demand for digital services, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and data centers continues to grow, technology companies are increasingly investing in renewable energy solutions to power their operations sustainably.

The partnership will help bring new renewable energy generation onto India’s power grid while supporting the country’s clean energy transition goals.

New Renewable Capacity Across Key States

The projects will be developed across Rajasthan and Karnataka, two of India’s leading renewable energy states.

Rajasthan has emerged as one of the country’s largest renewable energy hubs due to its abundant solar resources and growing renewable infrastructure, while Karnataka continues to play a major role in both solar and wind energy generation.

The addition of 837 MW of clean energy capacity is expected to strengthen regional energy security and contribute to India’s long-term renewable energy expansion targets.

Growing Demand from Digital and AI Infrastructure

Commenting on the partnership, CleanMax Founder and Managing Director Kuldeep Jain highlighted the increasing connection between digital infrastructure and clean energy.

He noted that modern economies are becoming increasingly digital, AI-driven, and interconnected, creating a growing need for reliable renewable energy sources to support future infrastructure development.

The partnership reflects how technology companies are becoming key drivers of renewable energy demand as cloud computing, data centers, artificial intelligence platforms, and digital services continue to expand globally.

Strengthening India’s Clean Energy Ecosystem

Amanda Yang, Head of Clean and Renewable Energy at Meta, said the agreements represent meaningful progress toward the company’s renewable energy objectives in India.

She noted that continued collaboration with CleanMax will help bring additional renewable energy capacity online while supporting the growth of India’s clean energy ecosystem.

Corporate renewable energy procurement has become an important mechanism for accelerating renewable energy investments, providing developers with long-term demand certainty while helping companies meet sustainability targets.

CleanMax Expands Leadership in Commercial and Industrial Renewable Energy

CleanMax has established itself as one of India’s leading renewable energy providers focused on the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector.

The company reported a contracted renewable energy portfolio of 5.7 GW during FY2025-26, reflecting strong demand from businesses seeking clean and cost-effective energy solutions.

According to the company:

  • 74% of newly contracted capacity came from existing customers
  • The company serves 588 customers across multiple industries
  • Customers span technology, digital infrastructure, manufacturing, and industrial sectors
  • Data center and AI infrastructure clients account for 42% of its contracted renewable energy sales portfolio

The growing share of AI and digital infrastructure customers highlights how the rise of data-intensive technologies is becoming a major driver of renewable energy investments globally.

Corporate Renewable Energy Deals Continue to Grow

The Meta-CleanMax partnership underscores a broader trend in which global technology companies are increasingly signing renewable energy agreements to support sustainability commitments and manage long-term energy needs.

As artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services expand, demand for clean electricity is expected to rise significantly, creating new opportunities for renewable energy developers and infrastructure providers.

For India, partnerships such as this not only support corporate sustainability goals but also contribute to national objectives around energy security, emissions reduction, and renewable energy deployment.

With more than 900 MW of renewable energy capacity now linked to the collaboration, Meta and CleanMax are helping accelerate the development of clean energy infrastructure that will support both digital growth and environmental sustainability in the years ahead.
