By Ankitt Y | Monday, August 10, 2026 | 10:00 PM IST : TV Today Network Limited has filed its fourth Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report (BRSR) for FY 2025-26 with BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited, as part of its Integrated Annual Report for the financial year. Prepared in alignment with all nine principles of the National Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct (NGRBCs), the report sets out the broadcaster’s approach to integrating environmental, social, and governance considerations into its operations, strategy, and decision-making. The report is prepared on a standalone basis and covers the period ending March 31, 2026.

Contents
  • Company Overview
  • Workforce and Human Capital
  • Environmental Performance
  • CSR Performance and Social Initiatives
  • Governance, Ethics, and Stakeholder Engagement
  • The Bottom Line

The filing paints a mixed picture: strong social and governance numbers — zero lost-time injuries, a rising female workforce, full policy coverage across all nine NGRBC principles — sitting alongside a stagnant environmental profile, with the company reporting no renewable energy consumption for the year.

Company Overview

TV Today Network, incorporated on December 28, 1999, is engaged in the broadcasting of news and current affairs across television and digital platforms, which together account for 98.97% of its turnover. The company operates 21 national offices and has a reach across 67 countries, with exports making up 13.64% of total turnover. Paid-up capital stands at ₹29,83,43,075.

For FY 2025-26, the company reported a turnover of ₹817.15 crore and a net worth of ₹889.21 crore, bringing it under the CSR mandate of Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013.

Key highlights at a glance:

CSR Allocation ₹2.19 Cr
Turnover ₹817.15 Cr
Net Worth ₹889.21 Cr

Workforce and Human Capital

As of March 31, 2026, TV Today Network employed 2,329 people — 2,121 permanent and 208 other-than-permanent. The gender split was 75% male (1,740) to 25% female (589). At the board level, the split is far more balanced: of six directors, three are women, putting female board representation at 50% — well ahead of the company’s own workforce ratio.

Employee turnover among permanent staff came in at 20% overall for FY26 (18% male, 25% female), down from 26% the previous year but above FY24’s 16%.

All 2,329 employees received training on human rights issues and policy during the year. Health and safety and skill-upgradation training reached 92% of permanent employees, and performance and career-development reviews were completed for 100% of permanent staff. Spending on employee well-being measures nearly doubled as a share of revenue, rising to 0.78% of total revenue in FY26 from 0.40% in FY25.

On safety, the company reported a 100% return-to-work rate and zero lost-time injuries, fatalities, or work-related injuries for the year.

Environmental Performance

This is where the report’s strongest caveat sits: TV Today Network reported no energy consumption from renewable sources in FY 2025-26 — all energy consumed came from non-renewable sources.

Environmental metrics, FY26 vs. FY25:

Parameter FY 2025-26 FY 2024-25
Electricity Consumption (Non-Renewable) 30,219.95 GJ 31,788.96 GJ
Fuel Consumption (Non-Renewable) 4,301.40 GJ 4,127.61 GJ
Total Energy Consumed (Non-Renewable) 34,521.35 GJ 35,916.57 GJ
Energy Intensity (per employee) 14.82 GJ 15.14 GJ
Scope 1 Emissions 648.16 tCO2e 855.08 tCO2e
Scope 2 Emissions 5,960.05 tCO2e 6,419.60 tCO2e
GHG Intensity (per employee) 2.84 tCO2e 3.07 tCO2e
Total Water Consumption 26,306.06 KL 26,803.04 KL
Total Waste Generated 109.33 MT 159.76 MT
Waste Intensity (per employee) 0.05 MT/year 0.07 MT/year

To its credit, most of these figures moved in the right direction year-on-year: total energy consumption fell, combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions dropped by roughly 12%, and waste generation fell by nearly a third. The company attributes part of the Scope 1 reduction to a dual-fuel system — diesel plus piped natural gas — introduced in its DG sets during the year, alongside continued reliance on petrol/diesel-powered company vehicles as the other main source of direct emissions. Scope 2 emissions remain tied entirely to grid electricity draw. The company also operates a Zero Liquid Discharge system at its corporate office.

One number worth watching: capital expenditure directed toward improving the environmental and social impact of products and processes fell to 27.14% of total capex in FY26, down from 35.56% in FY25 — a pullback even as absolute emissions and waste figures improved.

CSR Performance and Social Initiatives

TV Today Network ran seven CSR projects in FY26, with spending concentrated across five aspirational districts spanning Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Jharkhand.

CSR outcomes by project:

CSR Project Approx. Beneficiaries % from Vulnerable/Marginalised Groups
Environmental Sustainability 99,000 100%
Education (STEM Labs, SMART Schools) 4,000 100%
Livelihood Enhancement 19,700 100%
Healthcare & Sanitation 65,700 100%
Disaster Management (AIIMS Delhi B-SCEP) 9,200 100%
Nationally Recognised Sports (Archery) 200 100%
Rural Development 4,100 100%

District-level spending broke down as: Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh (₹24,90,321); Baran, Rajasthan (₹25,20,000); Jamui & Banka, Bihar (₹13,00,950); and Giridih, Jharkhand (₹11,39,250).

Cumulatively, the company says its CSR work has reached more than 5 lakh beneficiaries to date, and it’s targeting a total of 7.5 lakh beneficiaries by 2030 — implying plans to reach another 2.5 lakh people over the next several years through what it describes as sustainable and inclusive programming.

Governance, Ethics, and Stakeholder Engagement

Oversight of the BRSR framework sits with a dedicated ESG Committee, backed by a policy stack that includes a Business Responsibility & Sustainability Policy, a Vigil Mechanism/Whistleblower Policy, a POSH Policy, and a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. The company holds ISO 27001:2022 certification for its IT policies and framework.

Governance disclosures for FY26:

  • Fines/penalties: Nil monetary or non-monetary penalties against the company, its directors, or KMPs
  • Conflict-of-interest complaints: Nil, relating to Directors or KMPs
  • Anti-competitive orders: None issued by any regulatory authority
  • Data breaches: Nil reported
  • POSH complaints: 1 filed and upheld in FY26 (down from 3 in FY25)
  • Viewer complaints: 1,230 received, all resolved with nil pending at year-end

A few operational metrics also moved: days of accounts payable rose to 97.08 from 91.64 the year before. Sales through dealers/distributors fell to 57.4% of total sales (from 62.3%), and concentration among the top 10 dealers/distributors eased to 43.9% of that channel’s sales (from 52.9%) — both pointing to a modest broadening of the company’s distribution base.

On pay equity, gross wages paid to female employees rose to 23.62% of total wages (from 21% in FY25), with a median male-to-female salary ratio of 1.19:1, and the company reports 100% of employees are paid above the statutory minimum wage.

TV Today Network is a member of six national-level industry bodies, including the News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA), the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI).

The Bottom Line

TV Today Network’s fourth BRSR tells two different stories depending on which pillar you look at. On the “S” and “G” — safety, workforce training, board diversity, pay equity, governance discipline — the numbers are genuinely strong and, in several cases, improving year-on-year. On the “E,” the picture is more static: zero renewable energy adoption, even as intensity metrics and absolute emissions improved through efficiency measures like the dual-fuel DG retrofit rather than a shift in energy source. For a media company whose environmental footprint is relatively modest to begin with — no manufacturing, no heavy industrial process — the renewable-energy gap is less about scale of impact and more about a disclosure staying flat where peers are increasingly reporting a first tranche of renewable procurement. Whether that changes in FY27 is likely to be the more interesting number in next year’s filing than anything in this one.
