The project marks a significant addition to Bondada Engineering’s renewable energy portfolio and further strengthens its position in India’s rapidly expanding clean energy sector.

NTPC Awards 250 MW Solar Project in Uttar Pradesh

According to the company, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has issued a Notification of Award (NOA) for the EPC package of a 250 MW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) project located in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.

The project also includes a 50 MW / 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), highlighting the increasing role of energy storage technologies in supporting renewable power integration and grid stability.

The total contract value stands at approximately ₹1,338 crore, including GST, with project completion targeted within 18 months.

Solar and Battery Storage Integration Gains Momentum

The combination of solar generation and battery storage is becoming a critical component of India’s energy transition strategy. As renewable energy capacity continues to expand, energy storage systems are helping utilities manage intermittency, improve grid reliability, and ensure a more consistent power supply.

The Sitapur project aligns with NTPC Renewable Energy’s broader objective of accelerating renewable energy deployment while enhancing grid resilience through advanced storage technologies.

Industry experts view solar-plus-storage projects as a key solution for enabling round-the-clock clean energy delivery and supporting India’s long-term decarbonisation goals.

Bondada Engineering Strengthens Renewable Energy Portfolio

The latest contract significantly boosts Bondada Engineering’s order book and reinforces its growing presence in the renewable energy infrastructure segment.

Following the award, the company’s:

  • Solar EPC order book has expanded to approximately 5.5 GWp
  • Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) order book has reached around 1.1 GWh

The expanded pipeline is expected to provide strong revenue visibility and support future growth opportunities across India’s clean energy market.

Leadership Commentary

Commenting on the development, Dr. Bondada Raghavendra Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of Bondada Group, said the project reflects the company’s engineering expertise and commitment to supporting India’s renewable energy ambitions.

He noted that as renewable energy increasingly integrates with advanced storage technologies, the project further strengthens Bondada Engineering’s position within the evolving energy transition ecosystem. He also reaffirmed the company’s focus on delivering the project with high standards of quality, safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Growing Demand for Renewable Energy Infrastructure

India continues to witness significant investments in renewable energy generation and energy storage as the country works toward achieving its clean energy and climate targets.

The increasing adoption of battery storage solutions alongside solar and wind projects is expected to play a crucial role in improving energy reliability, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and enabling greater renewable energy penetration.

Large-scale integrated projects such as the NTPC REL Sitapur development demonstrate the growing importance of combining renewable power generation with storage infrastructure to support future energy demand.

Outlook

The ₹1,338 crore contract represents a major milestone for Bondada Engineering and highlights the company’s expanding capabilities in solar EPC and battery energy storage solutions.

With a growing order pipeline of 5.5 GWp in solar projects and 1.1 GWh in energy storage, the company is well-positioned to benefit from India’s accelerating clean energy transition. The NTPC Renewable Energy project is expected to contribute significantly to future revenues while strengthening Bondada Engineering’s role in building the country’s next generation of renewable energy infrastructure.
