The investment, unveiled during the Choose France Summit 2026, will focus on expanding logistics capacity, modernizing infrastructure, and accelerating sustainability initiatives across DHL’s operations. With this latest commitment, DHL’s cumulative investment in France between 2018 and 2027 will reach nearly €900 million, highlighting the country’s growing importance as a European logistics and trade hub.

France Emerges as a Strategic Logistics Gateway

As supply chains become increasingly complex and businesses seek more resilient logistics networks, France continues to play a critical role in connecting European and global markets.

DHL Group CEO Tobias Meyer described France as a key pillar of the company’s long-term growth strategy.

“France is a vital logistics hub at the heart of Europe and a key market for DHL Group. This investment will strengthen our infrastructure, expand our capabilities and accelerate our transition towards low-emission logistics while helping customers grow sustainably,” Meyer said.

The company believes the investment will enhance France’s competitiveness while supporting businesses navigating growing demands around sustainability, efficiency and supply chain resilience.

Expanding Logistics Infrastructure Across Business Units

The €160 million investment will be distributed across DHL’s major business divisions operating in France.

DHL Express

DHL Express will focus on fleet modernization, electric vehicle deployment, charging infrastructure, and network expansion.

The division has already completed 20 infrastructure projects since 2018, including the development of its major logistics hubs at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Lyon-Saint Exupéry.

DHL Global Forwarding

The freight forwarding arm will invest in alternative fuel transportation solutions, upgraded warehousing facilities and advanced cargo-handling equipment aimed at reducing operational emissions.

DHL Freight

DHL Freight plans to expand its low-emission vehicle fleet and continue upgrading logistics facilities across France. The company has completed six infrastructure projects since 2018 and plans to deliver six additional projects by 2030.

DHL Supply Chain

The supply chain division will expand warehouse capacity in strategic locations, including Paris, Orléans and Lyon, to meet growing demand from industries such as healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, technology and e-commerce.

The company will also strengthen its fourth-party logistics (4PL) capabilities through its Toulouse-based control tower, enabling end-to-end management of increasingly complex supply chain networks.

Sustainability at the Core of the Investment Strategy

A significant portion of DHL’s investment will be directed towards environmental sustainability and low-carbon logistics solutions.

The initiative aligns with DHL Group’s global objective of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Key sustainability measures include:

  • Expansion of electric delivery vehicle fleets
  • Installation of additional EV charging infrastructure
  • Increased use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
  • Deployment of solar energy systems across logistics facilities
  • Adoption of low-carbon fuels such as biodiesel for heavy-duty transport
  • Electrification of warehouse operations and equipment
  • Energy-efficient building upgrades

DHL currently operates one of the largest sustainable logistics programs globally and continues to increase investments in clean transportation technologies.

Targeting High-Growth Industries

The company is also strengthening its presence in sectors experiencing rapid growth and supply chain transformation.

These include:

Life Sciences and Healthcare

Demand for temperature-controlled logistics and pharmaceutical distribution continues to rise as healthcare supply chains become more sophisticated.

Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing

Industrial modernization and reshoring initiatives across Europe are creating new opportunities for specialized logistics services.

E-commerce and SMEs

The continued expansion of online retail is driving demand for faster fulfillment, last-mile delivery and integrated logistics solutions.

DHL says it is actively expanding specialized logistics offerings to support businesses operating in these sectors.

Nearly €900 Million Invested in France Over a Decade

The latest announcement underscores DHL’s long-standing commitment to the French market.

Having operated in France since 1976, the company has steadily expanded its footprint across logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain management and express delivery services.

By the end of 2027, DHL’s total investment in France over a ten-year period will approach €900 million, making it one of the company’s largest infrastructure commitments in Europe.

Strengthening Europe’s Sustainable Supply Chain Future

As governments and businesses increasingly prioritize supply chain resilience, industrial competitiveness and decarbonization, logistics providers are becoming central to economic transformation.

DHL’s latest investment reflects a broader industry shift toward sustainable logistics infrastructure capable of supporting growing trade volumes while reducing environmental impact.

With France emerging as a critical hub for manufacturing, e-commerce, healthcare and technology industries, DHL’s investment is expected to strengthen both the country’s logistics ecosystem and its position within Europe’s evolving green economy.

Outlook

The €160 million investment represents more than a logistics expansion. It signals DHL Group’s confidence in France’s economic future and its role in shaping the next generation of sustainable supply chains.

As demand for cleaner, smarter and more resilient logistics networks continues to grow, DHL’s investment strategy positions the company at the center of Europe’s transition towards low-carbon commerce and industrial growth.
