- Outlook
Now in its 11th edition, the biennial event will focus on some of the most pressing challenges facing cities, industries and water systems worldwide, including water scarcity, climate adaptation, flooding risks, ageing infrastructure, rising energy costs and increasing demand from water-intensive industries.
The event is expected to attract more than 2,000 global leaders and experts, alongside approximately 25,000 trade visitors, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading platforms for water innovation, climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
Growing Pressure on Global Water Systems
Cities and utilities across the world are facing mounting challenges as rapid urbanisation, industrial growth and climate change place increasing strain on water infrastructure.
Rising water demand, unsustainable extraction practices, ageing distribution systems and more frequent extreme weather events are creating significant operational and environmental risks.
The expansion of data centres and other water-intensive industries is further increasing pressure on existing water resources, while coastal cities face growing threats from rising sea levels and urban flooding.
Experts increasingly agree that addressing these interconnected challenges requires a combination of policy reform, technological innovation, integrated planning and stronger collaboration between governments, industries and communities.
Three Key Themes to Shape SIWW 2026
To address these evolving challenges, SIWW 2026 will focus on three major themes:
Municipal Water Solutions
Exploring strategies to improve urban water management, enhance infrastructure resilience and strengthen water security for growing populations.
Coastal and Flood Resilience
Examining solutions that help cities prepare for rising sea levels, extreme weather events and increasing flood risks associated with climate change.
Industrial Water Solutions
Highlighting innovative technologies and best practices that help industries improve water efficiency, reduce environmental impact and strengthen operational sustainability.
More than 80 sessions will be held across four days, including summits, ministerial discussions, workshops, roundtables and industry forums dedicated to these themes.
High-Level Global Participation Expected
Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will deliver the opening address at SIWW 2026.
The event will also host the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2026 Award Ceremony, where Professor Joan Bray Rose will be honoured for her contributions to advancing water technologies and sustainable water management.
Another major highlight will be the Ministerial Plenary, where Singapore Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu will join international water and environment ministers to discuss global cooperation on water security and climate resilience.
Industry Leaders to Share Insights on Water and Climate Solutions
SIWW 2026 will feature a wide range of thought leadership platforms bringing together experts from utilities, cities, industry and international organizations.
Key events include:
- SIWW Keynotes
- Water Leaders Summit
- Coastal and Flood Resilience Leaders Summit
- Titans of Industry Sessions
- Utilities CEO Roundtable
- City Leaders Roundtable
These discussions will focus on emerging trends, policy frameworks, technology adoption, infrastructure financing and climate adaptation strategies.
Water Innovation and Technology Take Centre Stage
Innovation remains a central pillar of SIWW 2026.
The event will feature several dedicated platforms designed to showcase next-generation water technologies and infrastructure solutions.
These include:
Water Convention
A forum for researchers, utilities and technology experts to share knowledge on water management and treatment solutions.
TechXchange
A platform highlighting cutting-edge technologies, digital tools and scalable innovations addressing water-related challenges.
Industrial Water Solutions Forum
Focused on helping industries improve water efficiency, sustainability and operational performance through advanced technologies and best practices.
Global Water Expo to Showcase Industry Innovation
The Water Expo, organised in partnership with IFAT, will serve as a major marketplace for the global water sector.
The exhibition is expected to feature:
- More than 20 country and industry pavilions
- Nearly 500 international exhibitors
