Markus Grabmeier Returns to Siemens

Grabmeier returns to Siemens after serving on the Executive Management Committee of Saudi Arabia-based Alfanar. His appointment brings extensive international experience in manufacturing, business development, and electrical infrastructure technologies.

Before joining Alfanar, Grabmeier spent nearly 14 years with Siemens, holding several senior leadership roles across the Electrical Products and Low Voltage businesses.

His previous responsibilities included:

  • Leading business development initiatives
  • Managing global manufacturing operations
  • Heading Siemens Electrical Apparatus Ltd. in Suzhou, China
  • Serving as Executive Vice President for China and East Asia within Siemens Electrical Products
  • Driving growth strategies across key international markets

His broad expertise in industrial operations and regional market expansion is expected to support Siemens’ ambitions in the rapidly evolving energy and infrastructure sectors.

Commenting on his appointment, Grabmeier expressed enthusiasm about returning to Siemens and contributing to the next phase of innovation and growth within the Electrical Products business.

Andreas Matthé Concludes a Distinguished Siemens Career

The transition marks the culmination of a remarkable career spanning more than four decades at Siemens for Andreas Matthé.

Throughout his tenure, Matthé held several influential leadership positions, including:

  • Vice President of Power Automation and Energy Management Systems at Siemens South Africa
  • Executive Vice President of Siemens China
  • CEO of Siemens Electrical Products and its predecessor organization since 2010

Under his leadership, the Electrical Products business evolved into one of the most important pillars of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, supporting customers worldwide with advanced electrical distribution technologies.

Matthias Rebellius, Member of the Managing Board of Siemens AG and CEO of Smart Infrastructure, praised Matthé’s contributions and welcomed Grabmeier back to the company, highlighting the strong foundation established for future growth.

Electrical Products Business Plays Key Role in Siemens Smart Infrastructure

Siemens’ Electrical Products division is a major contributor to the company’s Smart Infrastructure portfolio and serves customers across industrial, commercial, and utility sectors worldwide.

The business currently:

  • Employs approximately 26,000 professionals globally
  • Operates 25 manufacturing facilities across multiple countries
  • Develops low-voltage electrical products and digital software solutions
  • Supports power distribution, protection, monitoring, and measurement applications

Its technologies are designed to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems used in buildings, industries, utilities, and critical infrastructure projects.

Positioned to Benefit from Global Electrification Trends

Siemens believes the Electrical Products business is well-positioned to capitalize on long-term structural growth opportunities emerging from the global shift toward electrification and clean energy.

The division has developed advanced semiconductor-based switching and protection technologies that offer several advantages over conventional systems, including:

  • Faster switching capabilities
  • Improved operational efficiency
  • Reduced mechanical wear and maintenance requirements
  • Greater flexibility and multifunctionality
  • Enhanced sustainability performance
  • Space-saving designs for modern infrastructure applications

These innovations are becoming increasingly important as industries modernize their electrical networks and adopt smarter energy management solutions.

Growing Demand from Data Centres and Energy Infrastructure

The rise of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services is driving significant investment in data centre infrastructure worldwide. At the same time, governments and businesses are accelerating investments in renewable energy integration and grid modernization.

As a result, Siemens sees strong growth potential for its Electrical Products business in areas such as:

  • Data centre power distribution systems
  • Smart electrical infrastructure
  • Renewable energy integration
  • Industrial electrification
  • Energy-efficient building technologies
  • Grid modernization projects

With Markus Grabmeier taking charge, Siemens aims to strengthen its leadership position in these high-growth markets while supporting customers’ sustainability and digital transformation goals.

Outlook

The appointment of Markus Grabmeier reflects Siemens’ commitment to reinforcing its Smart Infrastructure business amid growing global demand for electrification and intelligent energy solutions.

As industries continue investing in digital infrastructure, clean energy technologies, and advanced power systems, Siemens’ Electrical Products division is expected to play a central role in enabling the next generation of sustainable and resilient electrical networks.
