New Delhi, June 2, 2026: Pace Digitek Limited has announced that its asset-holding subsidiary, TRANSGREENX, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) for the development of a large-scale renewable energy project in Karnataka.

Contents
  • Supporting India’s Energy Transition
  • Project Awarded Through KREDL
  • ₹1,775 Crore Investment Planned
  • Growing Role of Battery Storage in Renewable Energy

The project will combine 250 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity with a 250 MW/1,100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the renowned Pavagada Solar Park, one of India’s largest solar energy hubs.

The integrated solar-plus-storage facility is expected to strengthen grid reliability, improve renewable energy utilisation, and support Karnataka’s growing electricity demand by delivering clean power during peak consumption hours.

Supporting India’s Energy Transition

According to the company, the project has been designed to address intermittency challenges associated with renewable energy generation while enhancing overall grid stability. By integrating large-scale battery storage with solar power generation, the facility will be capable of supplying dependable electricity even when solar output fluctuates.

The initiative aligns with India’s broader clean energy ambitions and the government’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of energy storage technologies alongside renewable power generation.

Project Awarded Through KREDL

TRANSGREENX received the Letter of Award (LoA) for the project from the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) in February 2026.

The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) has approved an interim tariff of ₹5.51 per unit, supported by Viability Gap Funding (VGF), under a 25-year power purchase agreement framework.

The long-term tariff structure is expected to provide revenue visibility for the project while ensuring stable power supply for consumers across Karnataka.

₹1,775 Crore Investment Planned

The company had previously disclosed in a regulatory filing that the total investment required for the project is estimated at approximately ₹1,775 crore.

Construction and commissioning activities are expected to move forward in the coming months, with the project targeted to achieve its Commercial Operation Date (COD) within 18 months from the signing of the PPA.

Growing Role of Battery Storage in Renewable Energy

As India rapidly expands its renewable energy capacity, battery energy storage systems are becoming increasingly important for balancing electricity supply and demand. Large-scale storage projects help improve grid flexibility, support renewable integration, and reduce dependence on conventional fossil fuel-based power generation.

The Pace Digitek-BESCOM project represents another significant step toward the deployment of utility-scale energy storage infrastructure in India and highlights the growing momentum behind hybrid renewable energy solutions.

With the addition of advanced battery storage capabilities, Karnataka continues to strengthen its position as a leading renewable energy destination while contributing to India’s long-term sustainability and net-zero objectives.
